No doubt you’ve seen the TV ads - Let’s face it - how could you miss the mass of adverts encouraging you to post off your gold and make your fortune!
Well - lets take a closer look shall we? Recently, a customer showed us a purchase invoice from ‘Cash 4 Gold’ that showed a buying price of £34.30. For that, the customer had lost one chain, one bracelet, one charm, four earrings and six rings. Total weight of gold - 13.73g. The price shows a unit price of £2.49818 per gram!
For anyone wondering if all the claims that pawnbrokers like us offer less money and so on - lets dispel that myth - for the same gold as Cash 4 Gold paid just £34.30 - we would have paid £82.38. Thats more than £48 more!
We are currently undertaking a survey of these TV advertised companies - we’ll publish the results here in due course.
REPORT 1 - 30th October 2009 - Two packs have arrived so far - BUT - The one from yourgoldforcash was underpaid on the postage - meaning we had to cough up £1.08 to the postie in order to get it! Not the best start!
